Luxor
Luxor, the site of the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes, is a town in Upper Egypt divided into the Eastern and Western part by the Nile River. For centuries it has been the capital of the Egyptian empire and today it is the home of over 370.000 people as well as of many pharaohs that rest beneath its grounds.
There you can also see the amazing complex of the Karnack temple, one of the biggest, dedicated to an Egyptian god Amon-ra. It is a mirror for 2000 years of history that is how long it took for it to be finished. Amongst other thing you can visit the famous Valley of the Kings, where you can see up to 3500 year-old tombs of Egyptian rulers. Unfortunately most of them have been found empty but the one that has been found completely intact was the tomb of king Tut. The man who made the discovery was Hauard Carter and his house can still be seen in the outskirts of the valley itself.
In Luxor, you can also get in touch with the natives that live out of manufacturing a kind of rock, found in the desert, called alabaster. You can also find some of the best papyrus ‘’paintings’’ in entire Egypt, and you can not only buy one, you can also learn how to make one yourself as have people centuries before. Luxor is famous by its agriculture and the city that bring the impossible together, the beauties of vivid nature with the harshness of the inexorable desert.
